Empty Product Review - Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash

Hi Pretties

Hope you are having a great weekend!  Today I have an empty product review on the Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash that I received a couple of months ago as part of the BeautyHeaven.com.au trial team.

This product retails for around $6.99 at Supermarkets and Priceline etc and is readily available for purchase.

I really liked this product and the smell is very inoffensive which I think would be great for those with fragrance sensitive skin.  I study seasonal eczema and this product didn't irritate my skin at all.  I didn't improve it, but it didn't make the situation worse.  I also found this product great to use as a shaving cream.

I would definitely repurchase this product.

Empty Product Review - Essence Mascara

Hello lovelies

Today's empty product review is on the Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Boost Mascara.  I picked this up from Target for only $4.50 for the $20 makeup challenge (that I never filmed) and I freaking loved it!  For about a month.....

I think this mascara is fantastic if you love bold big lashes.  The brush is quite large and fibrous and distributes a great amount of product.  For about a month......

I normally will use a mascara for 8 weeks before I throw it out but this one I could only keep for 4 weeks. While the formula was perfect to start with and had no flakes or anything after a couple of weeks I noticed that by the end of the day it was starting to flake and the texture had changed quite a bit.  It also developed an awful smell.

Would this stop me repurchasing?  No, probably not.  I really enjoyed this for 4 weeks and for the price of it I can justify only having if for that long.  I would normally spend $10-20 on a mascara anyway so it does work out to be the same price.

Empty Product Review - TN Dickson's Witch Hazel Toner

Hi Pretties

I have an empty product review for you today.

This is the T.N. Dickson's All Natural Witch Hazel.  This is a HG product for me.  I could not even tell you how many bottles of this I have gone through but I have been using this for at least the last 8 years.  My step-mother got me onto this and I can't thank her enough.  It only costs around $8.50 as well so it is quite affordable but you can normally find it on special for around $6 as somewhere.  This can be a little hard to find sometimes, but it is available at most of the major stores but it is the only  T.N. Dickson's product available in Australia so it can be hidden well at times.

I love this product because it has one ingredient.  100% Distilled Witch Hazel containing 14% Alcohol.  No, the alcohol is not drying.

This has got to be the gentlest product I have ever put on my face as well.  There is no stinging around the eyes at all and it even removes excess make up you may have missed.

I rate this product 11/10 and will purchase as long as I can find it.

Crappy Product Review - Redwin Coal Tar Fragrance Shampoo

Hi Pretties

I have a review for you to day that I was extremely disappointed in.  So disappointing in that I am throwing it in the bin.

This is the Redwin Sensitive Skin Coal Tar Fragrance Shampoo Dry Scalp Management for healthy hair and scalp.  Redwin says this does the following;

Removes flaking scalp
Soothes itchy scalp
Moisturizes dry scalp

I say it does this;

None of the above
Makes flakes worse
Dry's hair out
Smells bad

I'll start with why I purchased this.  I suffer from seasonal flakes so going into winter I get flaky and going into summer I get flaky.  It's not dandruff but dry scalp.  I normally use the Neutrogena Coal Tar shampoo which I love, but it costs $12 so when I saw this one for only $4.50 I just had to give it a go.  I was in a hurry so I grabbed it and left the shop (I paid first of course).

After I used this the first time I was baffled as to why my hair was so dry and my flakes were worse.  And the itching!  I studied the bottle a little closer and realized this is not actually a coal tar shampoo but coal tar fragrance   Why first question was why the hell would they do that?  It's a crappy smell to start with.  The ingredients list is not even remotely similar to the Neutrogena Coal Tar shampoo either.  I guess that is my mistake though for not checking more carefully.

Anyway.  Boo to this product.  It's going in the bin!

Empty product review - Smartskin Moisturising facial cleansing wipes

The hunt continues for the perfect facial cleansing wipe.  This is not it!

The Smartskin wipes are the Woolworths branded wipes and cost only a couple of dollars.

The pros- cheap, do the job

The cons - wipe is too thin, not particularly moisturising, sting the eye area.

I think that about sums it up.  I won't be repurchasing these.

Empty Product Review - Bobbi Brown Mascara

This is an empty product review for the Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening Mascara that came in a May's Bellabox.

This was a really nice product to receive in a Bellabox and a really nice size.

This mascara is nice and black and does indeed lengthen quite nicely.  The only thing I didn't really like about this mascara is that it kind of gave me spider lashes.  While it lengthened, it did nothing for volume or texture.  It also seemed to dry out pretty quickly.

A nice mascara but I won't be purchasing for full price.

Empty Product Review - Batiste Dry Shampoo

Hi Pretties

You know you like a product when you repurchase it.  Again and again.

This is how I feel about the Batiste dry shampoo.  I've just finished my third can of this stuff and if I didn't have a travel sized one I had received in my June LustHaveIt I would be rushing out to buy another.

There are about 5 or 6 in the Batiste range offering different smells including a brunette variety (I'm brunette and find the normal ones work fine though without leaving a gray cast) and I enjoy the smell of them all.  I find the 'Fresh' is my favourite.

This dry shampoo is great for oily roots and building volume in hair.  I use it on my 2nd and 3rd day hair at the roots and you can't even tell how greasy my hair is getting or how flat it is.  It is also great to fluff out your hair a bit and an alternative to damaging teasing.

The RRP on these is about $9.95 but you can normally pick them up for $6 or $7 on sale at Priceline or similar places if you keep your eyes open.

I think this is great for the price as it lasts me about 4 or 5 months even with very regular use.  A 5 star product.

Empty Product Review - Ophelia Makeup Rounds

Hi Pretties

Today I have an empty product review for you.  I did a post a couple of weeks ago raving about the Target make up remover pads and how much I loved them but I ran out one day and could not make it to Target so I picked up some of the Ophelia makeup rounds from Aldi.

I am an Aldi lover.  I think most of their products are excellent for the price and I really liked these as well.  I believe they were around $1.80, I can't quite remember but I think these are even closer to the Swissppers than the Target Pads.  There was no loose cotton to get stuck on your face, one side is ribbed and there are 80 in a pack.

A great buy.

Have you tried the Ophelia Makeup rounds?

Empty product review - Swisspers Spa Cleansing Wipes

Hi Pretties

I have another empty product review for you.  I am just ripping through products at the moment which is fun because it means I get to try new things, but it is also rather expensive!  Lucky I'm a bargain hunter and a bit of a hoarder so I stock up on things when I see them cheap.  Like these Swisspers Spa facial cleansing wipes with white tea extract.  I picked these and a few other packs of various types facial wipes up at Woolworths when they had a big sale so I got these for around $3.  I believe normal RRP is around $6.

This pack comes with 25 wipes and has a lovely smell to them.  I'm generally a fan of anything in green packaging for some reason and these were no exception.  The wipes are nice and large, not as thick as others but definitely still thick enough.  These do a nice job of removing all the make up from your face, including the eye area but I think if you have particularly sensitive eyes I would avoid this area.  My skin is pretty tough and I found they stung a little around the eyes.

I would repurchase these again at full price, but perhaps try another type in the Swisspers Spa range to see if there is one that is a little gentler on the eyes.  The hunt continues for the perfect facial wipe!

Do you have a go to facial wipe?

Project X Pan - 7 & 8 down

So why is it when I embark on Project X Pan, I seem to run out of everything at one?

I've finished off another two products, both not on my list!  But hey, they are products that have been hanging around.

The first product I finished off I received in my Priceline Gift With Purchase a couple of months ago.  It is the Priceline Calming 3 in 1 Facial Wipes.  This pack comes with 25 wipes and a handy self seal sticker that keeps the remaining wipes fresh.

These wipes are quite nice.  The fragrance is harmless and they are not too dry but not too moist they run down your face.  They are very gentle and do a pretty good job at removing your make up.  The only thing I found they struggled on is my Essence Gel Liner but I am yet to find a product that removes it nicely.  I will repurchase these wipes.

The next item I finished off is a mechanical eye pencil by DB by Savvy.  By finished off I mean I wound it up to see how much was left and the remainder snapped off when I was winding it down.  Sad face :-(  I got this on special for about $3 probably a year ago and it is a great mechanical eye pencil.  The packaging is quite nice and firm and comes with a smudger on the end.  It did have a cap on it but that is long lost.  I don't use the smudger anyway.  The colour of this pencil is black but it is not BLACK black.  That would probably be my only complaint with this.  It is nice and long wearing too.  I would repurchase this, but I believe it is discontinued and I have enough eye pencils to last me about a year!

So I've actually finished off 8 items now.  That leaves 2 to go until I finish PXP but not all of the goodies on my list will be gone!  I'm going to take the Chi Silk Infusion off my list and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon as there is A LOT left and you only use a tiny amount but I still plan on using up the 4 other products before finishing Project X Pan.

Empty Product Review - Loreal Extra Volume Collagene

Hi Pretties

Today I have an empty product review for you, and well this product is not actually finished but I have had it for 2 months and I HATE IT SO MUCH I JUST WANT IT GONE.

I think this mascara is crap.  Crap, crappy, crapola.

When I first opened it up the product really wet and I was struck by the mammoth size of the applicator and the weird bobble shape.  While it did begin to dry out after a couple of days, one thing did not change about this mascara. The goop it plastered all over your eye lashes

As you can see from the applicator there are tiny chunks of mascara on the fibre wand and rather than distributing a nice even application, this goop just transfers onto your eyelashes.

I'll give it one point for making your lashes look volumized and thick.  But this is because they are covered in little goopies.

YUCK.

Thumbs down Loreal.  I'm glad I got this on special.  For a brand that produces some great stuff, this is a really poor product.

I'm not going to add this to my Project X Pan is it is not on my original list and not really a finished product.  I am going to chuck it though because I hate it and it is over 2 months old.

Project X Pan - 6 down!

Boom!

Another one bites the dust......

This time I have finished off the Bioderma Crealine H20 (Make up remover) that I received in the May LustHaveIt. While this is a great travel sized product, I tend to hoard travel size products and do way more hoarding and less travelling.  So I'm going to use up my travel bits and pieces.

This product is ok.  Not brilliant and certainly not worth the price tag, but it is very very gentle and I think it would be great for sensitive skin.

Project X Pan - 3, 4 & 5 down!

Hi Pretties

Happy Friday!

Today was a BIG day for Project X Pan.  I finished off three products!  2 were on my list and one was a product I was not expecting to finish off but hey, its done and it counts :)

First product I finished this morning was the last spray of my Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty sample.  I got this in my May LustHaveIt and while it is quite pretty, it is not for me.

I also finished off this morning my go to foundation.  It is the Loreal Matte Morphose Souffle foundation.  I LOVE this foundation.  When I first tried it in January this year I was so excited to finally find my HG foundation.  It matches me perfectly, I don't get greasy after wearing it, it is just fantastic.

.......The it started.  I started seeing this foundation marked down to $15 and then $10 and finally...IT'S GONE!  Nooooooo!

Luckily I stocked up and have two spares :)  I'll be waiting until I finish off the other foundations in my PXP before I open a new one.

Th next product I finished off was not on my PXP list, but hey, it's a product I needed to use up.  It is the Dove Visable Beauty moisturizer.  Not a great moisturizer.  The fragrance is so strong it almost gives me hay fever and I find the consistency is a little thin where I prefer thicker moisturizers.

BYE BYE my products.

Project X Pan - 2 down

Hi Pretties

Exciting times!  My second product of project X pan is done and dusted.  Hurray.

This one is the Nutrimetics Clear Deep Cleansing Exfoliant.  For those playing at home 'facial scrub'.  This product makes me cranky every time I look at it.

Basically I went to Nutrimetics Spa evening around 18 months ago and the lady recommended the Clear range to me which is for oily to combo skin.  Feeling rich I bought this and it cost me $70 for the cleanser, toner, scrub and moisturiser.  Not too bad of a price but more than I spend normally on skin care in one go.

Anyways the products all broke me out so bad and left my skin so red raw and dry I couldn't use them.  I contacted the head office as they had a nice return policy and in the mean time relocated from QLD when I bought the stuff to NSW and they advised me I needed to contact the consultant to get a refund through them as they needed her special code or whatever.  I couldn't get in contact with this girl for months and low and behold the 60 day return policy period passed and I couldn't get in contact with the consultant and head office were very unhelpful.  I chucked the cleanser, toner and moisturiser as not even my partner could use them on his skin which is tougher than mine but kept the scrub as it was not too bad used in moderation.

Needless to say I won't be in a hurry to purchase from Nutrimetics again!

This product itself is a decent scrub.  The smell is pretty harmless and the scruby-beads are quite small in a clear fluid.  I am glad it's gone though.

Empty product review - One&All hand cream

Hi Pretty People

Today I'm reviewing a hand cream I've just finished off.  I've had this for almost a year!  Not surprising though as I only really use hand cream in the winter.

This is the One&All Re-Hydrating Protecting Hand and Nail cream for dry hands.  This is an Innoxa brand.  I got this on sale at a chemist for $3.56 but I think the normal RRP is around $5 for a 75ml tube.

This has a faint apricot smell and is a nice think white cream that soaks into the skin really quickly and doesn't leave you with sticky hands which I hate.  I find this hand cream really quite effective against the harsh winters we have and I will buy this again when I have gone through a hand cream I was given.

This cream is supposed to Assist in strengthening the skin's barrier function, prevent moisture loss and improve damaged hands.  It is also dermatologically tested.

I highly recommend this hand cream.

Caitlin xoxo

Empty Product Review - Covergirl Lash Perfection Mascara

Hi Pretties

I have another empty product review!  I seem to be finishing EVERYTHING off at the moment.  I have two more reviews to go up soon...

Today I'm reviewing the Covergirl Lash Perfection Mascara in Very Black.  This comes in a 7.2ml size and I got it on special for around $11.  I think it is normally around $16.

The think I like most about this mascara is that is has a rubber brush as opposed to a fibre brush.  This means less clumps!  This mascara goes on smoothly and quite even.  While it does not lengthen and volumise very well, it is a great work or day time mascara.  It frames the eyes nicely and is quite black.

The formulation of this mascara is quite dry which is also something I like, but I think it may have been a little two dry.  I'm throwing this out as I've had it for 8 weeks now, but I feel like the formula is already drying out as I surely can't be done with the tube yet.

The packaging of this mascara is quite nice and 'classy'.  It is very clean looking as well and doesn't get any sort of mess around the cap.  I severely dislike bright coloured packaging on my mascaras or anything bulky as I like my collection to look as sleek as possible.

Would I buy this again?  Yes I would, on sale.  I have a ton of mascaras to use up that I have gotten as freebies so I may get back to this one again, but not for now.

xoxo Caitlin

Empty Product Review - Face of Australia Cleansing Wipes

Hi Pretties

Another empty product here for you!

This time I have finished off a pack of Face Of Australia Purifying Cleansing Wipes.

These are alcohol free and have 25 wipes in the packet.

I got these on special at Big W when they had a $3 off sale so they were only $1.50 or so.  I'm glad.  I would not be impressed if I paid full price for these.

I think they are scratchy, not really moist enough and don't remove heavy eye make up.  I don't hate these, but I won't buy them again unless they are really on special.

Empty Product Review - Target Cosmetic Pads

Hey Hey Hey

It's time for an empty product review!  I've finished off yet another bag of cosmetic pads from Target.  These are $2.50 and come with 80 pads.

The blurb says they are 'for all your cosmetic needs.  Ideal for make-up removal and the application of cleansers and lotions.  Perfect for lint free nail polish removal.  Multi use, strong quilted for clear, fresher skin'.  I agree.

Now I love a bargain, but I also love quality and I have tried nearly every cosmetic pad on the market from $1 to $4 a bag.  I used to only use the Swispers pads as I thought the rest were really crappy until Target came out with these.  I feel these are Swispers quality for much less of a cost.

I use these to remove my heavy eye make-up when just a make-up remover wipe won't cut it and to tone every day.  One of these packs will last me 3-4 weeks.

An item I will repurchase time and time again!
