NOTD - Sally Hanson Salon Effects

Hi Pretties!

Here is my nail of the day :)

It is the Sally Hanson Salon Effects real nail polish strips that I got as a gift from my boyfriend.  I blogged about them on my Sunday night haul post.

These are the cutest little birdies and the style is called Not a Peep.

I can't get past how cute these are!

Empty Product Review - FOA Nail Polish Remover

Hi Pretties!

I'm done with another product.  This is not being included in Project X Pan as I had to go right out and buy another bottle as I can't live without nail polish remover!

I trialed the Face of Australia Nail Polish Remover 'Strengthening' which cost around $3.  This is a nice nail polish remover.  It removes nail polish very quickly without drying and really does strengthen.

A nice buy and very inexpensive.

NOTD - Essie Lady Like

Hi Pretties

It's been a while since I posed a nail of the day!  It's not that I have not been wearing nail polish, I promise I have!  I've just been wearing darker colours a lot and my application is pretty shoddy so I have not felt the photos have been nice enough :-(

Anyway today's nail is by Essie and the colour is called Lady Like.  This came in the Essie Fall Collection Cube I purchased back in March.  It is a lovely fleshy/mauvey/pinky colour.

What's on your nails?

Ulta3 glitter nail polishes

Hi Pretties

I wanted to show you these Ulta3 glitter nail polishes I found today.

I'm not sure if these are new, but I have not seen them before in my local Ulta3 bins.  I got these ones at Coles for $2 each.

I purchased Gold Digger and Silver Glitter, but I also saw a blue glitter and one called Confetti in the bin and I believe there are a few more in this range.

Gold Digger is your pretty standard yellow gold with gold glitter and the silver is a very shinny grey with silver glitter.  The strange thing about these polishes is they dry with different textures.

The Silver Glitter feels chunky on your nails, much similar to Sally Hansen Gem Crush and Gold Digger dries smooth.  Strange...  Silver Glitter is a lot more 'glittery' too and becomes much shinier on your nails.

Who loves swatches?  We do!

I put these polishes on over the colour I already had on (Rimmel Lively Lilac) and have applied two coats of both.  The silver is more compacted than the gold, but I think both are really pretty :)

Have you tried the Ulta3 glitter polishes?

NOTD - Ulta3 Jade

Hi Pretties

Here is my nail of the day!  It is Ulta3 nail colour in Jade and I received this in my April Bellabox.  A luxury sample this is not.  The RRP is only $2 on these nail polishes so after I've had a bit more of a think I'm a little disappointed to get this in my BellaBox.

I own about 4 of these nail polishes.  Some I like, some I don't.  One I think is the best wearing nail polish I own.  Last night when I put this on I really really liked the colour.  I thought it went on pretty well, a little streaky but that might just be my application skills but apart from that I was pleased.

THEN this morning as I reached into my bag to get my keys out I managed to scratch up 4 nails on my left hand.  This is over 8 hours since application!  Very disappointing.  Now I didn't use top coat, but I don't use a top coat with any nail polish and I don't normally have this problem.

Thumbs down to Ulta3 nail polish in Jade.

My 5 favourite autumn nail polish

Hi Pretties

Happy black Friday!

I thought tonight it might be fun to do an autumn favourites post. You can read about my favourite 5 autumn lipsticks here. I'm dedicating this post to my 5 favourite nail polishes for autumn :)

With Flash
Without Flash

So it's no secret I love my dark colours for autumn. Especially purples :)

Starting from the left hand side we have;
Essie Power Clutch - A shinny deep olive green
Rimmel I love Lasting Finish in 030 Double Decker Red - That perfect bright red colour
Ulta3 Black Plum - A plum/burgundy colour with shimmers
Revlon 790 No Shrinking Violet - A deep purple with shimmers
OPI Lourve Me, Lourve Me Not - A slightly warmer purple with shimmers

I always wear my Cutex Diamond Extra Hard as a base as it stops colour from transferring onto my nails and keeps them nice and healthy. Since I change my nail polish so often this is critical for me.

What are your favourite nail polish colours this autumn?

Priceline Gift With Purchase

Hi Pretties

Those in Australia would have no doubt seen Priceline's current gift with purchase. To receive you just spend $60 on the participating brands to get the goodie bag filled with over $220 worth of stuff! I thought I would do a short post for those tossing up whether this is for you or not.

Now seeing as Revlon also have buy one get one free, and I have been eyeing off a few lip butters and lipsticks for quite a while, I easily reached my $60 with a couple of other purchases. More about those on Sunday in my weekly haul post!

Below is the bag I received.

I'll start with the bag. To be honest I think it's hideous. It's very much not my taste and pretty flimsy. But it kept my goodies contained so I'm not complaining too much.

Products
Eco Tools - 100% recycled plastic bath sponge in purple. This is nice and soft
Nude By Nature - Soft focus illuminator
Models Prefer Multi purpose sponge in hot pink
Rimmel - I love lasting finish nail polish in 185 Mocha Fever (I already own this colour)
1000 Hour - Nail Foils in a purple/silver patterned colour
Manicare - Soft Touch Tweezers
Covergirl - $10 off card
Revlon - Colour Burst lipstick in 035 Blush
Innoxia - Lovely Lips lipstick in Honeysuckle
Australis - Paparazzi Perfect High Definition blush in Poser
Press and Go - Nails in a zebra type pattern
Natio - Mineral pressed powder in Soft Tan
Priceline - Calming facial wipes
Max Factor - Xperience Volumising Mascara in black
Models Prefer - Kohl pencil in matte black
Savvy by DB - Luxury Liner in Shimmering Slate

Now considering most of the products I already purchased were buy one get one free I really got loads of stuff for my $60. I'm very excited about it. I pretty much don't need to buy mascara for a year, and eye liner for about 2 years with all the free ones I have received lately as gift with purchases!

Did you get the Priceline gift with purchase bag?

NOTD - Orly Aspen

Hi Pretty People

Just a quick post tonight to show you my nail of the day. Today I'm wearing one of my new Orly Polishes in the colour Aspen. Not a Autumn colour I know but it is soooo cold tonight and my feet are feeling icy so I chose this colour as it reminded me of snow and ice and generally being cold!

This colour is a frosted ice blue colour. Very much an 'is it silver/is it blue?' colour. But it goes on nicely and I am in love with the rubber toppers on these polishes.

What colour are you wearing today?

NOTD - Double Decker Red

Rimmel Lasting Finish in Double Decker Red.

I looooove bright red nails and this polish does not disappoint! Only disappointment is how bad I am about getting polish even around my cuticle!

Happy Good Friday!

Orly Nail Polish Haul

Hi all

No doubt most of the Aussies have seen the discounted Orly nail polishes getting around Priceline at the moment, but for those who haven't, Priceline is selling Orly nail polishes (old range) for anywhere from $3 to $5! Normal retail price of Orly nail polishes is around $18 so your getting a bargain with these!

I picked up one colour to try the other day for $4.95 and after being pretty pleased with the polish I went to buy a couple more today and low and behold I got the for $2.99 each! So I now have 4 colours :)

My favourite thing about these polishes so far would have to be the rubber topper which makes getting the top off the bottle so easy. Normally with my OPI polishes I'm trying to chew it off with my teeth!

I really like the consistency of the polish also, it goes on nice and evenly, does require two coats which I'm not always a fan of but the shine factor you are left with is fantastic.

I don't think the polish longevity is anything special, still wearing off after 3 or 4 days but I'm yet to find a polish that lasts much longer from high end to cheapy Ulta3. In fact I would probably say that Ulta3 has lasted the longest of any polish I have tried and they are only $2 a bottle. But for the cheap price I got these Orly polishes for i'm very pleased. I'm doubtful I would spend $18 on a bottle though as I think there are other polishes just as good.

The colours I got from left to right are;

Strip Down: A bright pink with orange undertones

Aspen: A very shiny pale blue

Not So Dusty Rose: A dusty rose

Walk Down the Isle: A shimmery pale green

What Orly polishes do you have?

NOTD

Today's nails are Strip Down by Orly. This is my first Orly polish purchased from Priceline in the $4.95 and I quite like it. Definitely needs two coats but goes on nicely and not at all streaky.

Sunday night haul

Hey all I hope you all had a great weekend! My week has been busy busy as I have been moving into a new house and have had to spend a lot of time putting together flat packs and packing and moving and cleaning and basically doing a lot of boring things!

I still had the chance to buy a couple of items this week and did get a lovely new house present off my wonderful boyfriend. He got me my first Mac Paint Pot! He even remembered the colour I wanted ♥

So my haul this week is as follows;

Mac Paint Pot in Bare Study
Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in 006 Pink Blush
Sally Hanson Salon Effects in 360 Laced Up
Sally Hanson Salon Effects in 340 Girl Flower
Rimmel Lasting Finish nail polish in 170 Lively Lilac (another gift from the man)♥
OPI Nail Lacquer in Lourve Me Lourve Me Not
Revlon Lip Butter in 050 Berry Smoothie

So that's all my new products for the week. I'm very excited about my Mac Paint Pot as I have been eyeing this off for a long time and of course the Revlon Lip Butter which I got for only $5 at my local chemist (the sales girl rang up the wrong price).

What are your favourite new products??

Essie Fall Collection Cube

I finally received from OzSale this week my long awaited Essie Fall Collection Cube. Oh how I wish this was branded autumn! This adorable little pack contains four mini nail polishes that are 5ml each in this seasons colours. This pack was on sale for $10 with free postage and I have since seen in David Jones on sale for $20. I think I scored a bargain.
Without Flash
With Flash
The pack came in a little box (which I unfortunately have already thrown away) with the colours (L to R) Lady Like, Power Clutch, Very Structured and Carry On.

Lady Like - A pinky/ purply colour which has a nice natural look to it.

Power Clutch - A metallic olive green.

Very Structured - A metallic bronzy/ brown.

Carry On - A deep purple burgendy

All the colours in the pack are spot on for this autumn and no doubt they will get a work out!

TIP: Use a top coat and a base coat to extend the life of your nail polish.

NOTD: Purple Ombre Nails

Ombre nails are very hot at the moment and purples are a great autumn colour. Why not combine the two?
Starting with a base coat, work from your thumbs with the darkest colour and finishing up your little fingers with the lightest! I've used Cutex Diamond Extra Hard, Revlon 790 No Shriking Violet, Australis Peek-a-Boo, Rimmel 170 Lovely Lilac and finished with Ulta3 Speed Dry Top and Base Coat.
What are your current nail trends?
